This backyard was dominated by an unused, high maintenance swimming pool. With grown up kids and a busy schedule our client wanted to reinvent their outdoor space as a quiet sanctuary to return to following work travels.
The former pool now holds a rainwater tank which supplies water to this low maintenance mostly native garden. A towering Eucalypt has always dropped a lot of debris over the yard so the new planting scheme had to be tolerant of this and enable easy clean up. Keeping the hard surfaces to a minimum and using plants with an open habit ensured bark and leaves could easily fall through and in turn be absorbed into the mulch.
